A lifelong love of apples...

There were always apple trees in our garden, and when I was young, my dad would hold the ladder whilst I climbed up to pick from the top of (what seemed at the time to be) a very tall tree.  Many years later, after a career in IT with a multinational confectionery business, I returned to my love of plants and trees, working for the National Trust on projects in the North of England. After this, my love and knowledge of fruit trees were honed at an award-winning nursery, providing advice for heritage organisations and private estates.  I'm an organic gardener committed to zero use of petrochemical pesticides and herbicides, passionate about "right plant, right place", and wanting to spread the word about the lost gems of our fruit-growing past.
